Young hearts, run free...

Two 81-year-old ladies are proving age is just a number as they travelled around the globe together on the trip of a lifetime.

BFFs Ellie Hamby and Dr. Sandy Hazelip from Texas have made it around the world in 80 days, visiting all seven continents, including 18 countries and 8 wonders of the world.

Ellie, a documentary photographer, has already visited a whopping 103 countries in her lifetime and made sure her pal Sandy got up early with her so she could capture the best sunrises on film. Sandy, a doctor and author, made sure the ladies stayed in top form on their travels, and insisted on "a tablespoon of Pepto Bismol every morning."

Documenting their journey on their blog, the best pals say that, "at 81 we understand what's truly important" and said the trip was not "a vacation, it was an adventure!". No strangers to social media, the ladies have an Instagram following of almost 20k, as well as a Youtube channel tracking their adventures.

Rather touchingly, the octogenarians have dedicated their trip to their late husbands, writing "We miss you and wish you were joining our adventure."According to Metro UK, Sandy actually became best pals with Ellie after her husband passed away in 1999. The two women bonded over a shared love of travel and have been inseparable ever since.

During their 80-day adventure, the women rode camels in Egypt, befriended elephants in Bali, watched the Northern lights in Finland and even went penguin spotting in Antarctica. Now safely back home in Texas, they said their favourite part of the trip was all the people they met along the way.
