Unlucky Dundalk sunk by late goal in Slovakia

Unlucky Dundalk sunk by late goal in Slovakia

A late David Holman goal saw Dundalk go down 1-0 away to Slovan Bratislava in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round tie tonight.

Holman broke the deadlock with four minutes of the game left when a shot from substitute Dejan Drazic ricocheted back off the post to him.

The Lilywhites were unlucky not get an equaliser late in the game when Bratislava's goalkeeper Dominik Greif pawed John Mountney's header onto the crossbar.

It means Dundalk will need to score at least once in next Tuesday's second leg in Tallaght to progress.
